november long wknd, we took off for a get-away. med hat, then up to elk point, ab. then off to edmonton!

here the clown is doing his own version of football (3 volunteers spin around a bat on the ground and run and kick the football....after spinning round and round 10 times, they were lucky to make it TO the football, let alone kick it! the audience picked the winner!)

My Birthday Rainbow...!!!

Last Wednesday, it rained.
Rained so much that a bright, lovely rainbow appeared.
Quite the sight to see on Dec. 8th. Something I don't think I will forget!

nov.1 - 4, 2010

dad, murray and ryan come down for a hunt...
dad got his on mon, ryan and curt got theirs on tuesday. murray had to wait for the biggest one...got his on wed

the beginning of november, we get some hunters: dad, murray and ryan. the 4 boys go out hunting and each get their mule deer!

mmmmm...carrot pickles

this year i had a very prosperous carrot crop... so what do i do with all these carrots?!?!?!
i remember enjoying pickled carrots (and beans!) growing up.
i had never made them before and was discussing this with a co-worker...she seemed interested to learn how!
since both of us had never made pickled carrots before (OR EVEN CANNED for that matter!), we decided to tackle this little experiment last saturday afternoon!
this saturday, a jar was opened and did not last very long! so the experiment worked!

erica peeled so many carrots! THX dear!

a science lesson was refreshed here!

of course, i didn't have fresh dill....BUT...did you know in the frozen aisle of wholesale club they have frozen fresh dill??? just like the fresh stuff...what a lifesaver!

now to seal and listen for a "pop"!

like i said...this is the year of the spider...

another spider found in my front yard... must be all my hard work and pretty flowers to attract them here! ;)

we were glad mom and dad could come down for a visit - a very quick visit... i think they didn't even stay 24 hrs!!!!!!!!!

anyways we had a good time, had a turkey dinner and celebrated mom's birthday too! (Oct. 9th)

at school, we had a cake and bingo night - we play bingo and each of the staff make a cake... students and parents buy tickets to guess who made what cake...

Sunday, October 24th...was Curtis's birthday. I had some family over, on my side and Curt's. We had a great lunch... took all saturday afternoon and evening to prepare!

Rhett stuffing his face... he had his appendix out less than a week ago!

last grass cutting took place on October 16th... what a year for the grass!

and 9-10 days later, we get this! cold, snow and gross! hope it's not here to stay!

an update...not too much happening...

finally i get back on here... it really helps if you upload your pictures more regularly i think!

since my last post... not too much has happened, well a few events, but not too many pictures to tell the story... so here goes.



sept.18th - the S.C flying club had their annual corn roast... since curt is the prez of the club, he did a lot (or most!) of the event organizing...

sept.20 - we celebrated arlene's birthday! (with a birthday supper at our house)

i made her a chocolate cheesecake...the frozen kind! yum

some lavatera from heather... THX! this flower is beautiful and i'm ready to invest in some

i believe 2010 is the year of the spider!!!! is that true...?? this summer i found so many interesting spiders (see post "mr. spider" august 2010)

this upcoming spider was found by the kids at school... called a "cat" spider

and very large in size!
